<b>FIGHT OR FLIGHT

Today was just another boring day. My father is always at work and never wants to spend time with me. For the past year all he ever does is work, eat, and sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be different.

"Dad, will you take me hunting today please, I wanna see the animals."

"No Jimmy, I don't have time. You will understand when you get a job one day."

"Well then Dad, I'm going to go hunting myself then."

"No Jimmy I promise I'll take you tomorrow."

I went straight to my bedroom all excited for tomorrow. I wanted the night to pass quickly as possible. The whole night sleeping I thought to myself tomorrow will be the first arrow I shoot.

I woke up and went straight to the breakfast table and ate a big meal with my father and mother. I didn't think of anything except for what was about to happen in an hour. When I was finished I looked at my father straight in his eyes with excitement.

"Lets go Dad, you remember right?"

"Jimmy, I can't today I have to go help your Uncle Todd."

My eyes with excitement suddenly began tearing up as I ran straight out of kitchen to my room. I lied in my bed for a few hours thinking of how much I hated my dad. He never has time for me, so why should I make time for him. I decided I was going to go out and hunt by myself tomorrow.

When I awoke I put on some of my torn-up clothes that were ruined from activities I did when I was younger. I carefully sneaked into my fathers room to borrow his bow and arrows to try to hunt for a deer. I then departed to the woodlands.

After hours of hunting I finally had a deer in my sights. I put the arrow in my bow and aimed it towards the deers direction. I steadied my arm and let the arrow fly towards the deers way. It was a critical miss, about three feet to the right. The deer ran in the opposite direction of me and fled the scene.

I decided to go deeper in and stay towards the entrance of the woodlands. I found another deer this one was a unique purple color. I knew it would be a good catch. I calmed my mind and readied my arrow, slowly pulling back the string. I starred for thirty seconds without blinking once, than I released the arrow. I hit the purple deer right in the chest as I saw it buck upwards towards the opposite direction. I ran after it knowing it didn't have long left. When it stopped it was around its fawn. My eyes began tearing up as I questioned myself for shooting this Deer, it truly cared for its child unlike my father cared for me. I pulled that arrow out of its chest and got my first aid kit out of my pocket. I did everything I could do for this deer making sure it lived.

After spending two days with this deer it manged to live, and be happy with its child. I was growing weak, hungry, and thirsty. I knew I would now have to return home.

Of course when I returned home my parents were worried, but they eventually understood what I did and my father said he would make more time for me, but that never happened.

As the years passed I grew up and got married and had a son. I always made sure I made time for him unlike my father did for me. My father would contact me always asking me if he could visit or if we could go hunting, I always told him the same thing.

"I'm sorry Dad, I have a lot of work to do today, and I need to spend time with my own child."
